Steps to Employment Programme (STEP)

It is not unusual for people who have been, or are about to be, made redundant, to lose confidence and struggle with feelings of low self-esteem. Finding another job feeling like this can be very difficult. Others may feel 'rusty' as it may be a long time since have written an application form, attended an interview, or given a presentation.

Morgan Duell Associates understand these feelings and launched our Steps to Employment Programme (STEP) specifically to help people in just this situation. The programme is available for companies to buy in for delivery in-house. individuals wishing to join the programme should contact us directly.

Our enabling combination of personal coaching, skills training and support networks is tried and tested and achieves great results.

The STEP Programme

The first STEP is to meet with Pam or Bridget to discuss needs and aspirations and agree a personalised plan*. As each participant is an individual with their own set of concerns, skills and goals, plans vary, however, all are likely to include a combination of:

  • personal coaching sessions
  • practical employment/self-employed skills workshops
  • 1 to 1 employment support sessions
  • access to the online STEP toolkit
  • ongoing membership of our STEP support network

*Plans can be updated during the programme if priorities change.

Personal coaching sessions

Coaching is provided by Pam Morgan who is an International Coaching Federation credentialled coach. Coaching helps to unlock blind spots and self-limiting beliefs that may be holding the person back from achieving their goals, builds confidence and self-esteem and helps them to identify what they want to achieve and to set goals for which they hold themselves accountable.

Practical employment skills workshops and 1 to 1 sessions

Group workshops and individual sessions are available for participants to choose from, focussing on:

  • how and where to search for jobs

  • writing application forms that get you shortlisted

  • CV writing and speculative applications

  • how to prepare for an interview

  • Interview practice

  • Presentation Skills (for this required to give a presentation as part of a selection process)

STEP  Toolkit

In addition to face to face support, STEP participants will have 24/7 access to our online STEP Toolkit which contains advice and guidance notes, templates, top tips and "how to" guides.

STEP Support Network

When joining the programme participants are given membership to the closed STEP Facebook group. Here they can interact with other participants, share ideas, thoughts and feelings, celebrate successs and offer support and encouragement to one another. Membership of this network is open-ended.
